In late December and early January, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) began initiating enforcement and issuing detention notices against aluminum products under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and appears to be expanding enforcement of the UFLPA to aluminum products.

The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) went into effect on June 21, 2022, and supports US Customs and Board Patrol’s (CBP’s) enforcement of Section 307 of the Tariff Act of 1930 (19 U.S.C. § 1307), which prohibits the importation of goods made wholly or in part by forced labor.
The UFLPA prohibits the importation of goods made by forced labor or child labor, focusing on goods from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) in China. Learn more about the UFLPA regulation here.
