Search Your Whole BOM by Substance

The Materials Module reads the full material declarations behind your parts, so you can ask where a substance sits across an entire BOM and get an answer in one view.

Overview

The Materials Module is a premium add-on to Z2 Part Risk Manager. It parses the full material declarations behind your parts, so any substance becomes searchable across a whole bill of materials, complete with CAS number, weight, and the regulation it triggers. If you already have Compliance Manager, you are grandfathered into the module at no additional cost.

Built to handle material data & declarations

Ask where a substance is and get the whole answer

Search a material and Z2 returns every component in the BOM that contains it, together with the regulations that restrict it. Searching lead on a typical BOM does not return a status, it returns the parts, so the question moves straight from "are we exposed" to "which of these do we change".

See the substance behind every non-compliant part

Choose a regulation and build the view you need. Z2 returns the affected components with the substance that put them there, so a RoHS or REACH result comes with its reason attached and your compliance and engineering teams are reading the same record.

Find the materials nobody has regulated yet

Restriction usually arrives after exposure. Because the module works from the declaration rather than from a fixed list, you can go looking for rare earth elements or China-restricted elements across your BOM before a regulation forces the question, and know which products would be affected.

Common Questions

Do I need to re-upload my BOMs?

No. The module runs against the BOMs you already manage in PRM. Your parts are searchable as soon as it is enabled.

Where does the material data come from?

From full material declarations. Z2 parses and normalizes the declarations behind your parts, which is what makes a substance searchable across a whole BOM rather than readable one file at a time.

I already have Compliance Manager. Do I need this?

If you have Compliance Manager you are grandfathered into the Materials Module at no additional cost, and these views appear inside PRM alongside your other part-level risk.

Is this included in Part Risk Manager?

The Materials Module is an add-on to PRM rather than part of the base product, unless you already have Compliance Manager. Get in touch and we will walk you through what it covers and how it is priced.
